This Friday evening, the Nice Eagles traveled to Grenoble as part of the 24th day of the Ligue Magnus. After a victory against Gap earlier in the week, Nice suffered a heavy defeat (5-1).
Maintaining the positive momentum was the motto for the Nice Eagles today. After a victory last Tuesday, against Gap at Jean Bouin (5-4), Nice wanted to extend their good form. The task promised to be difficult at the Grenoble Pôle Sud. The Eagles were challenging the Brûleurs de Loups, a solid third place team in the championship. But the Grenoble team was coming off a defeat in Rouen.
Grenoble Takes the Lead Early
After a rather balanced start, it was Grenoble who scored first in the 5th minute (1-0) by Sacha Treille. With a numerical advantage, the Eagles pressed hard to score, but couldn’t break through Grenoble’s defense. The hosts maintained their lead until the end of the last period.
The pressure from Grenoble on the Eagles’ goal continued in the second period. However, Nice’s defense remained solid, with several decisive saves from their goalkeeper, Conrad Mölder. The Brûleurs de Loups managed to extend their lead quite logically in the 38th minute through Roman Lyubimov (2-0).
The Eagles Dominated by Grenoble
There were now just twenty minutes left for Nice Eagles to turn the match around. In numerical inferiority, Nice conceded a third goal scored by Jere Rouhiainen just three minutes into this final period (3-0). The task became more difficult for Nice in this match. Shortly after, Grenoble scored another goal (4-0) by Maxim Lamarche.
The Eagles had a burst of pride. Norbert Abramov scored Nice’s first goal of the match (4-1) in the 48th minute. However, it wasn’t enough to allow Nice to come back into the game, as Grenoble responded just seconds later with a fifth goal by Flavian Dair (5-1). Goals were plentiful towards the end of the match. The score remained unchanged, and the Eagles were defeated in Grenoble.
The next match is scheduled for December 22 for the Nice Eagles. Nice will host Chamonix at Jean Bouin as part of the 25th day of the Ligue Magnus. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m.
