On Tuesday, November 5th, the inauguration of the works by artist artmor1 took place. They are visible in the city, notably on Place Massena.
It was after a call for projects launched by the city of Nice that artist Romain Renaud, or artmor1 (@artmakeoneright), created ten artworks in the streets of Nice. Ten stencil and spray paint artworks depicting animals and other marine references.

The project’s objectives are to raise awareness among the city’s residents about protected marine species. Thus, the artist chose to create paintings of species mainly from the Mediterranean. He notably depicted invasive species such as jellyfish, and also turtles in reference to those that had laid eggs on the beaches of Villeneuve Loubet.

This is also about continuing to enhance art in the city. Indeed, Robert Roux, Deputy Mayor in charge of Culture, quotes Soulages: “Art is not visited, it is frequented.” This reveals a desire to beautify the city while also allowing the people of Nice to engage with art on a daily basis, particularly street art. For one year, these ten artworks can be found around the city. They are placed on ten electrical meters and follow the last ten years’ efforts, including painted facades in the city and the welcoming of works by artists like C215.
This is an important moment calling for awareness, particularly regarding an event that will take place in 2025: the United Nations Conference on the Ocean (UNOC). A major event for the future and the preservation of the seas and marine biodiversity.
