On the occasion of International Children’s Rights Day, the Lenval Foundation and the Humanice association are coming together to organize the “Teddy Bears at the Hospital” operation.
Today, the reception hall of the pediatric hospitals of the CHU-Lenval in Nice will be transformed into a “teddy bear hospital.”
This event, led by healthcare students from the city of Nice, members of the Humanice association, in collaboration with the Lenval Foundation, allows young audiences to better understand healthcare professions. It also facilitates relationships between caregivers and patients by demystifying care and interactions with healthcare professionals.
Being in front of interlocutors who are still students makes the contact easier and allows children to ask their questions and play doctor “for real.”
The Foundation will host five classes from kindergarten and first grade of schools located near the hospital (St Pierre d’Arène, Sainte-Thérèse, Baumettes II). This day perfectly integrates with the school program regarding body discovery and awareness of hygiene and health themes. The Deputy Mayor for Education of the City of Nice, Mr. Lauriano Azinheirinha, will come to greet our apprentice caregivers as soon as the first class arrives at 9 a.m.
Each student will come with their favorite teddy bear and must inform the student who welcomes them about what ailment their teddy bear suffers from. Approximately 130 children will be able to participate in the six workshops offered during a short hour. The teddy bears will be examined, undergo X-rays, and leave with a health record and their prescription!
Humanice is a supportive student association from Nice whose goal is to bring the principles of solidarity to everyone and at every level! Initially founded by medical students, the association is open to students from all fields, who are willing, curious, and eager to share moments of solidarity.
