Jean-Pierre Rivère and Virginie Rossetti have received the medal of youth, sports, and sporting commitment for their work with OGC Nice. Their dedication goes beyond football, contributing to the social and associative influence of the club.
Last week, Jean-Pierre Rivère and Virginie Rossetti were honored with the medal of youth, sports, and sporting commitment. The ceremony took place in the presence of Charles Ange Ginésy, president of the Alpes-Maritimes Department, and Philippe Manassero, president of the Departmental Olympic and Sports Committee of the Alpes-Maritimes. Several elected officials and sports figures from the Côte d’Azur area were also present.
Jean-Pierre Rivère, president of OGC Nice since 2011 (with an eight-month interlude in 2019), has worked to structure and modernize the club. Originally from Gers, he moved to Nice during his childhood. After a successful career in real estate, he invested in OGC Nice and became its majority shareholder. His commitment facilitated the construction of the training and academy center, as well as the club’s move to Allianz Riviera in 2013.
Virginie Rossetti joined the club in 2004 to prepare for the centennial celebrations. Since then, she has become an essential figure at OGC Nice as director of communications and branding. Her efforts have strengthened the club’s identity and developed its social initiatives, notably through the “Gym Solidaire” program and the club’s endowment fund.
“Football is a tremendous vector for solidarity”
During the ceremony, Charles Ange Ginésy praised their work: “Jean-Pierre Rivère and Virginie Rossetti, through their work, human qualities, and shared passion, have made OGC Nice a central element in the life of our region. They show us that football is not just about titles and trophies: it’s a tremendous vector for solidarity, generosity, and sharing.”
Philippe Manassero added: “This medal is a well-deserved honor for their dedication over nearly 15 years. Thanks to their rigor and passion, the club has returned to top-level competition and has become a reference in Ligue 1.”
The recipients expressed their gratitude. Virginie Rossetti stated: “Thank you for this wonderful recognition, which deeply moves me. It is an immense pride to receive this medal in front of my children, my family, and my friends.” Jean-Pierre Rivère concluded: “I wish I could share a piece of this medal with each of you who have contributed to the club’s rise.”
