La Crème Festival returns for a highly anticipated fourth edition. From June 16 to 18, 2023, this event, in an eco-friendly approach, will offer a unique experience between the Citadel and the beach of Villefranche-sur-Mer. Three days of music by the water await festival-goers.
Nestled in an exceptional environment, the festival returns after three sold-out editions. During the day, the Darse beach, a secluded cove with turquoise waters, will be the meeting place for moments of relaxation, sunny DJ sets, and paddle outings. At sunset, the party will move to the majestic Citadel of Villefranche-sur-Mer, built in 1554 and classified as a historical monument, offering an idyllic backdrop with the Mediterranean for an evening under the stars.
The program for the 2023 Crème Festival has been revealed, and the first artist names are already generating excitement. Among them, festival-goers will find DISIZ, JENNIFER CARDINI, YUKSEK B2B FATNOTRONIC, DOMBRANCE, MAXENCE, RADIO CARGO, BARBARA BUTCH, KIDS RETURN, LA TCHOIN, ANNA MAJIDSON, LEAM, LESLIE MEDINA, DIDI HAN, CHAMBRE NOIRE, and many more to come. With over 30 artists scheduled, the Crème Festival will highlight the current French scene in all its diversity, offering a predominantly electronic lineup but also showcasing other musical genres.
The festivities will start on the Beach Stage during the day, which will then transition to the three stages of the Citadel once night falls. The Garden Stage will offer intimate and melodic live performances, while the Copains Stage by Greenroom will provide an inclusive and alternative program. Finally, the “Grande Scene” by Villa Schweppes will host the major shows and headliners of the festival.
A festival committed to the environment since its inception
Beyond the music, La Crème Festival is also committed to environmental issues. Labeled as an eco-event, the festival has made every effort since its inception to preserve the natural setting surrounding it.
Regarding catering, La Crème Festival favors seasonal products, local supply chains, and local artisans. This approach enhances the quality of the food offered while reducing the carbon footprint related to product transportation. Additionally, the festival shares energy-intensive equipment, now using only one shared refrigerated truck to meet the needs of the entire event.
La Crème Festival also places a strong emphasis on recycling and reusing items. All the decoration, furniture, and structures of the festival are sourced or made from repurposed items. These elements are stored locally and reused from year to year, thereby avoiding waste and additional waste production.
In terms of mobility, the organization actively encourages festival-goers to use public transport and prioritize eco-friendly modes of transportation. Partnerships have been established with electric transport providers, and shuttles are arranged annually to facilitate festival-goers’ travel between the Citadel of Villefranche-sur-Mer and central Nice.
Moreover, since 2019, the festival has organized a waste collection activity on stand-up paddleboards in collaboration with the Paddle Cleaner association.
In 2021, La Crème Festival took a major step by completely eliminating single-use plastics. This decision significantly reduced the plastic waste generated by the event. To further this initiative, the organization has decided to reduce glass waste by 80% by introducing alternatives to traditional wine bottles.
A significant milestone in La Crème Festival’s environmental efforts was achieved this year with the transition to solar energy. In partnership with Greenroom, the Copains Stage and its Greenerbar were powered by solar energy. This initiative was extended to two other areas of the festival, namely the Garden Stage and the Beach Stage. Solar panel farms, sourced from the Alpes-Maritimes and assembled in France, will be installed on the different festival sites.
La Crème Festival is committed to continually improving its environmental practices each year. The ultimate goal is to achieve a festival entirely powered by solar energy by 2025, thereby strengthening its position as a responsible and environmentally conscious cultural event.
