From November 13 to 17, 2023, the city of Nice is setting up various free diabetes screening points.
Diabetes is a disease that affects more than 500 million people worldwide and kills nearly two million every year. In France, it is a major health issue, with an estimated 6% of the population having diabetes.
Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease that typically develops during childhood or adolescence. It accounts for about 10% of diabetes cases in France. Type 2 diabetes is more common and generally occurs in adults, although it can also affect children and adolescents. The aim of this prevention week is to both increase awareness and promote screening for diabetes.
To achieve this, free screening sites are set up throughout the city. It is also possible to have a free fitness assessment, with registration required, starting on Monday, November 13 at 2 PM at the AnimaNice Gorbella Center. Additionally, on Wednesday, November 15, a free and registered participation is offered for the Acti-Santé walking loop located in Nice Nord, inaugurated by Christian Estrosi on May 17.
