As part of the Environmental Trophies, last January in the Pasteur neighborhood a new pilot project was launched, focusing on energy savings, water conservation, and solidarity action: the “Sustainable Energy for All” project by the Azzura Lights association (a winning project of the Environmental Trophies launched by the city of Nice).

Ø 50 collective housing units in this neighborhood were thus equipped for free with energy and water-saving equipment thanks to the Ecology Box. This social and solidarity action, part of the fight against energy poverty in urban areas, enabled 50 families to save on water and energy consumption.

Ø Building on the success of this operation, the “Sustainable Energy for All” project will be launched next Monday in a second neighborhood, Ariane. Thanks to an association partnership, 50 families will receive the Ecology Box, which will accompany them for a year in managing their water and energy consumption.

The project details: In 2010, the Azzura Lights association, which responded to the call for projects from the Environmental Trophies organized by the city of Nice, received a grant of 3,000 euros to implement its “Sustainable Energy for All” project.

The concept: Design a box (the Ecology Box) containing a water saver, a low-voltage bulb, and a comic strip guide to raise awareness among residents of sensitive neighborhoods about energy savings.

-Savings achieved:

·€250 saved in energy and water over one year,

·560 cubic meters of water saved,

·2000 kg of CO2 avoided in the atmosphere.
