On April 7th and 8th, Stockfish in Nice is offering a slam workshop for children aged 9 to 14. Two mornings to discover writing, performing, and oral poetry, led by Yass Sogo and Killian Alaari.
Stockfish continues its artistic program “Les Petits Poissons” by organizing a slam workshop for young people from Nice during the school holidays. This new session will take place on Monday, April 7th and Tuesday, April 8th, from 9 AM to 1 PM.
This workshop is intended for children and teenagers aged 9 to 14. It is led by two artists with unique backgrounds: Yass Sogo, rapper and French teacher, and Killian Alaari, a slam poet recognized for the quality of his writing. Together, they will guide the young participants through the basics of slam: playing with words, rhythms, musicality of texts, stage expression, and self-confidence.
Introducing Young People to Poetic Expression
Participants can attend alone or be accompanied by a parent. The workshop is limited to twenty places, and registration is done online.
At the end of these two mornings, the young interns will take the stage. On Tuesday, April 8th at 6 PM, they will open the free concert of Yass Sogo and Killian Alaari at Stockfish. It’s an opportunity to put their learning into practice in front of an audience.
This workshop is part of a broader initiative. The “Les Petits Poissons” program, launched last September, aims to familiarize young people with the performing arts and contemporary music. About sixty children have already participated in various workshops: singing, comedy, mixing, DJ set, writing, and musical improvisation.
Slam adds to this program, providing young people with a space to express themselves, play with words, and assert themselves.
