The association Histobriques presents “BRIQU’AMATA. Lego® and Prehistoric Men” at the Terra Amata Museum of Prehistory. An exhibition for young and old to discover from July 1 to September 24.
Telling the story of prehistoric humans through scenes created with Lego® is the challenge that Darius and Atossa Trimegiste set for themselves. The founders of the Histobriques association have made the combination of history and these figurines their specialty.
Their association aims to “promote science and history to a broad audience through the bricks and minifigs of the Lego® brand in libraries, museums, or archaeological sites”. Thus, these “fans of history, protohistory, and prehistory” have created a unique exhibition for the Terra Amata museum.
The History of Humanity in Lego
The couple takes the visitor, using these figurines, on a journey into the past. Returning 400,000 years ago to this prehistoric site in Nice where life settled. They notably trace the history of one of the oldest hearths of humanity. The museum provided them with a skull of Homo heidelbergensis, a native of Nice living on the beach at that time as well as a baby tooth lost by a child on the same beach during the same period to complete their exhibition.
More broadly, in a playful and educational way, they narrate the history from the first signs of life to the present day. This includes the appearance and extinction of dinosaurs, or the separation of great African apes from the human lineage, about 9 million years ago. Then, the visitor encounters the Homo Erectus of Terra Amata, the Neanderthal, as well as an early agricultural community in northwest Jordan 9,000 years ago.
