The author gives us a rather pessimistic assessment of our country. He dares to speak the reality of the facts and exposes the slow decline of France that began in 1974. Emmanuel Macron has echoes of Gaullism with a certain idea of France. The presidential candidate introduces himself and shares his roots, with his family originating partly from Picardy and partly from the Pyrenees.
Emmanuel Macron mentions his grandmother, always with a book in hand. We are not far from Hugo when the great writer said: “Open a school, and you will close a prison.” Learning and knowledge are the foundations of freedom. With this man, politics regains its original sense, that of serving.
The author notes the failure of the parties, which no longer have a guiding line, hence the rise of the extremes. Emmanuel Macron reviews all areas of our public life, highlighting the inconsistencies and mistakes. The presidential candidate refuses fatalism and challenges us.
We are the actors of our future, and it is up to us to control it, or better yet, to direct it. His diagnosis of the current situation challenges us. One might think of Kennedy when he said: “Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country.”
Emmanuel Macron, a man of the right? No, loving one’s country is not a right-wing opinion; a man of the left? Not quite, caring for the poorest and society’s castaways is not the exclusive domain of the left.
Revolution offers us a different reading of France, another vision of this world where the advances in computing and globalization are the new challenges facing our country. Revolution is at once an assessment of France, a project for France, and a challenge to be met by France. A must-read book, very well written, with a passion that comes through from its author.
A typographical error concerning Villeurbanne in the Lille region is the only downside of this book where the author demonstrates his love for France and its history, of which he is a very knowledgeable connoisseur. Revolution is a valuable testimony to understand our country’s situation within the concert of globalization, of which it is one of the main animators.
