Mathis Road: new traffic changes starting this April 29

Latest News

One month before the opening of the new Sortie Ouest, a second phase of adaptation has been launched for Nice’s motorists.

The developments related to the new Sortie Ouest of the Voie Mathis are ongoing. Starting today, Tuesday, April 29, 2025, new traffic modifications come into effect. This step prepares the complete commissioning of the infrastructure scheduled for May 24th.

For several years, the project has been accompanying the development of western Nice. It aims to improve travel, reduce noise pollution, and limit pollutant emissions. To prepare the users, a first phase of adaptation was carried out during the school holidays in April when traffic is traditionally lighter.

Final adjustments before the opening of Sortie Ouest

Starting April 29, Valery Giscard d’Estaing Avenue will no longer be accessible from Mercantour Boulevard, whether arriving from the south or the north. This change will streamline access to the A8 motorway via interchange number 50, by directly using the Voie Mathis, without interruption by traffic lights.

A new intersection, created at rue Nicot de Villemain, will provide a link between Boulevard Paul Montel and the north and south lanes of Valery Giscard d’Estaing Avenue.

The final phase of the work will take place in May with the full opening of Sortie Ouest. This new development is part of a series of projects aimed at rethinking mobility and making everyday life easier for the people of Nice.
