The big question of this election is whether the incumbent mayor of Nice will be re-elected in the first round on March 15th. According to the IFOP* poll, Christian Estrosi is credited with 49% of voting intentions.
The incumbent mayor, supported by The Republicans, the Modem, and the Radical Movement, is well ahead of the other candidates. He is receiving more voting intentions than during the last municipal elections in 2014.
The other lists are far behind, and only the Greens and the National Rally would make it to the second round for a three-way contest.
Specifically, the ecologist list of Jean-Marc Governatori and Juliette Chesnel is credited with 14% of voting intentions. The ecologists are neck and neck with the candidate of the National Rally, Philippe Vardon, who is credited with 13% of voting intentions.
The socialist candidate Patrick Allemand is credited with 6% of voting intentions, which is less than in 2014 during the last municipal election. According to the poll, he is behind the candidate of La France Insoumise, Mireille Damiano, who is credited with 8%.
With these results, both lists will not be admitted to the second round.
If the estimates hold true on election day, Christian Estrosi would still be elected in the second round with 59% in a coalition with the centrist Modem and UDI, while the EELV list would peak at 23%, and the National Rally would be trailing at 18%.
