Municipal Elections in Nice: First Defection in Christian Estrosi’s Team, Will It Be the Last?

Latest News

The “mercato” of Olivier Bettati, after his announcement of candidacy for the 2014 municipal elections, shows an initial result. A defection is to be recorded among the elected officials of the majority in the Municipal Council.

Indeed, Andrée Alziari-Nègre, deputy mayor for more than 10 years and a grassroots elected official, has just slammed the door on the municipal majority. A former Deputy, substitute for Eric Ciotti, she therefore leaves her positions as Deputy Mayor of the “East Littoral” proximity center and delegate for animal protection.

In her resignation letter, Andrée Alziari-Nègre writes that she no longer wants to endorse a political system where “there is unfortunately nothing true, sincere, and selfless” and that “communication stunts have become the alpha and omega” in the outgoing Mayor’s politics.

Dr. Andrée Alziari-Nègre immediately expressed her desire to engage alongside Olivier Bettati, with whom she shares the desire to offer a different vision of public life to the people of Nice.

An isolated case or a first crack in the outgoing mayor’s setup?
