Things are moving forward for the “A Concert Hall in Nice” collective!

Formed about ten months ago, this local collective working towards establishing a concert hall in Nice has now been officially organized into an association (under the 1901 law) and has successfully initiated discussions with local institutions such as the City Hall and the General Council.

Next March, the Nice collective, in co-production with the City of Nice and the Alpes-Maritimes Department, will organize a contemporary music festival, “Nice Tour de Scène,” from March 6 to March 19, 2005.

This event will take place in various municipal venues (Forum Nice Nord, Cedac de Cimiez, Théâtre Lino Ventura, the 700 hall at Nikaïa) and private or associative locations such as:

– Le Volume
– The Science Faculty at Valrose
– Boogaloo Bar
– Le Ketje
– Pub Les Deux Frères.

The lineup includes Rock, Reggae, Chansons, Percussions, Electronic Music, Ragga, Punk, Pop, with notable appearances by Guem, Les Grosses Papilles, Chinaski, My Diet Pill, Dupain, Marto-Ventouz, Skank Ambassy, Poum Tchak, Parabellum, La Caution, Princess Cum, Rude Boy Skunk, Maniac’x, and others.

During the festival, there will be a forum on contemporary music with various speakers directly involved in the field.

Finally, great news for the coming year: ticket prices will be limited to 2 or 3 euros for events in bars, associations, university halls, and a maximum of 10 to 12 euros for performances at Théâtre Lino Ventura, the 700 Hall at Nikaïa, Forum Nice Nord, Cedac de Cimiez, and Villa Arson.

Who said nothing happens in Nice?
