The South Region is organizing a large waste collection operation on Saturday, April 15, 2023.
Millions of tons of waste are produced each year in the region, with some of it ending up on roadsides, beaches, green spaces, and in our Mediterranean Sea. Thus, for the first time, the South Region invites residents to participate in cleaning up their city during a positive and festive day. “Let’s Clean the South!” will bring together more than 200 municipalities and collection points that will simultaneously participate in the initiative.
For the first time, the entire South Region, its residents, local governments, and businesses, are coming together for a major zero-waste gathering: Let’s Clean the South! Such a collective momentum, such a desire to make a change, there’s no doubt: it’s happening here in the pilot region of ecological transition.

Since 2017, the South Region has placed climate issues at the heart of its priorities through the Climate Plan “a COP Ahead.” In 2022, it was designated as the leading pilot region in this field. Moreover, committed to environmental protection and aware of the climate emergency, the Region is working with local governments to implement a Regional Waste Prevention and Management Plan.
