Since his return to the azure club, the Swiss coach has shown a completely opposite side compared to his first stint. The unacceptable defeat in the Coupe de France ends his second adventure in Nice.
Quickly questioned within his group and by Ineos after a disastrous start to the season, Lucien Favre was already on the verge of being dismissed during the World Cup break. After several meetings, the Nice board ultimately decided to trust the former Dortmund coach, but the defeat (1-0) in the Coupe de France against Puy-en-Velay (National 1) seems to have been the final straw.
The first part of the season well below expectations and a completely missed start to the year ultimately sealed Lucien Favre’s fate. First reported by Le Parisien and L’Équipe, OGC Nice confirmed the departure of their coach with a statement.
It is Didier Digard, a former reserve coach integrated into the professional staff at the beginning of December, who will take the interim position. The former captain of the Gym will be on the bench against Montpellier.
