The championship resumes! With the international break now behind them, the Aiglons will host Olympique de Marseille for a highly anticipated clash in Ligue 1.
It might be the most exciting match-up of this 9th day. Second in the championship and one point behind the leading Monaco, OGC Nice is eagerly awaiting their fiercest rival, ranked 6th. Marseille has had a somewhat mixed start to the season: elimination in the third qualifying round of the Champions League, 3 wins, 3 draws, 2 losses, and a coaching change to top it off. Italian legend Gennaro Gattuso recently arrived at La Canebière following the sudden departure of Marcelino.
Favorites, the Niçois will nonetheless have to manage without Sofiane Diop, who is out with a thigh injury, Khephren Thuram, still suspended, and Beka-Beka. Excluded from the club, Youcef Atal will also be absent, but the return of the promising Antoine Mendy in a like-for-like position is sure to please Francesco Farioli. As for the Olympians, they will almost be at full strength, except for Pape Gueye, who is still suspended by FIFA due to a transfer issue.
Pink October: OGC Nice mobilized alongside the Antoine Lacassagne Center
The Pink October campaign is in full swing in the region, and OGC Nice is no exception. The club is currently mobilizing all its components on and off the field, alongside the Antoine Lacassagne Center, with the highlight being the match against Olympique de Marseille, during which players will wear a special jersey. The aim is to raise awareness among as many people as possible and support those affected by the disease by advancing research. OGC Nice thus commits to supporting the Antoine Lacassagne Center, the regional cancer research center for the PACA East region, for the second consecutive year.
On match day, health professionals will meet with Gym supporters on the forecourt of the Allianz Riviera, where a self-examination workshop led by a doctor will be set up. From 6 p.m., a stand selling pink ribbons will also be available on the forecourt. Players will then wear during the match a jersey featuring a pink ribbon, just like captain Dante, who will wear a pink armband. The jerseys will be auctioned off at the end of the match with the proceeds fully donated to benefit three research projects currently conducted by the Antoine Lacassagne Center to offer new therapeutic perspectives to women with breast cancer.
The probable line-ups
Nice: Bulka – Lotomba, Todibo, Dante, Bard – Sanson, Ndayishimiye, Boudaoui – Laborde, Moffi, Boga.
Marseille: Lopez – Clauss, Gigot, Mbemba, Renan Lodi – Ounahi, Rongier, Harit – Ndiaye, Aubameyang, Sarr.
