The atmosphere was lively this morning at the departmental plenary assembly. Indeed, some minor squabbles at the end of the session between the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis and Deputy Eric Ciotti concluded the assembly.
The plenary session of the departmental council of the Alpes-Maritimes, chaired by Charles Ange Ginésy, took place this morning at the CADAM. The agenda was focused on the environment and human solidarity. As in every session, Charles Ange Ginésy gives the floor to anyone who requests it, does not turn off a representative’s microphone until they have finished speaking, and allows them to respond after their intervention.
Mr. Ginésy announced his projects. He wishes to implement “a multitude of actions that outline a more virtuous department.” To achieve this, he mentions the success of his “Green Deal” and “Smart Deal” policies. Therefore, the department wishes to continue its policies in the long term, including the Water Plan project in partnership with the University Côte d’Azur, aiming to create a University chair on water. This partnership aims to better understand the water resource and ensure its sustainable access.
During the assembly, Charles Ange Ginésy highlights the success of the agricultural plan, launched until 2028. It primarily aims to improve the quality of school lunches with local products provided by departmental farms and short food supply chains. It will support sustainable sectors and maintain agricultural territories.
Child Protection in Focus
New social measures aim to strengthen child assistance by funding the creation of accommodation places intended for minors. To protect and accommodate minors in danger. As well as the creation of the departmental commission for access to autonomy for young adults. The department is also relying on the revaluation of the family assistant profession.
This revaluation plan for family assistants is based on two axes:
- Providing laptops and phones.
- As well as assistance in finding larger housing for child reception and help with rent payment.
On the cultural side, the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis has expressed a wish for a plan to finance the National Theatre of Nice by the department. A contentious issue, leading to the opposition of Deputy Eric Ciotti, who cannot accept the demolition of “still new infrastructures” by the city of Nice. The final decision of the plenary assembly ended with the rejection of the Metropolis’s wish.
