For the 26th and final day of the Marmara SpikeLigue, the men’s volleyball championship, Nice Volley-Ball traveled this Saturday to the Centre Val-de-Loire to face the “Tévébé” of Tours. A match that resulted in a defeat for the Nice team.
Facing Tours Volley-Ball (TVB) for this final championship match, Nice Volley-Ball had the opportunity to conduct a test against this opponent that they will likely meet in the play-offs in a few weeks. Unfortunately for Brice Donat and his players, the Nice Volley-Ball could not hold its ground on the court of Salle Robert Grenon. Indeed, the team from Tours gave no chance to the Niçois. Even though the Eagles fought well in each set, they could not avoid a defeat in three sets (25-21; 25-22; 25-19).
First set
The match started complicatedly for the Niçois, as they quickly allowed Tours to dominate (7-2; 12-7). Despite the Eagles’ good intentions, Tours was ahead in all areas. An advantage that the TVB held onto, winning the first set, (25-21).
Second set
In this second set, Nice needed to wake up to stay in the game. They did not let themselves be distanced in this second part and even started to gather strength. Throughout this last encounter, the two teams were neck and neck. But in the end, it was again the team from Tours that took the advantage, (25-22).
Third set
Even though the outcome of the match seemed already decided, the NVB fought hard in the third set, although they did not win it, (25-19). A clear defeat, but of no significance for the championship. The Eagles finish this regular season in 5th place and qualify for the play-offs.
