France’s first 10 km is in its 12th edition!
11 years of performances, personal or collective challenges, camaraderie, and festive celebrations have transformed this small race in Nice into the number one 10 km race in France, establishing it as the must-attend event at the start of the national racing calendar. The event has even managed to pull off the impressive feat of attracting runners from beyond France’s borders. What a journey… 524 runners for the first edition in 2000 and 5600 for this year’s edition.
But the Prom’Classic is also and above all a passion, first and foremost of the organizers, but also of the sponsors who demonstrate their commitment to this wonderful event year after year. The passion of the volunteers, who increase in number with each edition, or of the spectators and media who wouldn’t miss the event for the world!
Furthermore, the Prom’Classic is a gathering for the top champions of the moment, who return each year to attempt setting new extraordinary records by the finish line (Editor’s Note: Saïd Tbibi for men at 28’38” or Christelle Daunay for women at 32’44”). Such exceptional presences reminiscent of Hicham El Guerrouj (king of middle-distance) or Ladji Doucouré (World Champion in the 110 m Hurdles) from the 2008 edition. Last year, the event set another participation record with 5600 registered participants.
On Sunday, January 9, the two lanes of the Promenade des Anglais will again, we hope, be the scene of new records and provide an opportunity to experience another edition full of hope, much like the promising new year ahead!
Meanwhile… 6 reasons to love the Prom’Classic:
A dream setting
10 km of pure joy between the sea and mountains, entirely on the Promenade des Anglais exclusively reserved for runners. A flat and fast course in a stunning setting with an unobstructed view of the Bay of Angels and the always mild weather on the day of the event undoubtedly contribute to the success of this premier 10 km in France.
A festive atmosphere
In a convivial and festive atmosphere, which will appeal to beginners and running enthusiasts alike, runners will set off in this first 10 km in France where good humor and camaraderie will take precedence over competition.
First race of the year
After the end-of-year celebrations, participants will find in the Prom’Classic an original initiative to start the new year on the right foot! Indeed, the Prom’Classic is the essential gathering at the start of the year in the running calendar, inspiring both enthusiasts and amateurs to uphold new sporting resolutions for 2011.
An elite athlete lineup
This year again, the elite athlete lineup will be as impressive as in previous years with the presence of Christelle DAUNAY, who will attempt to beat her personal record.
Current performances:
Record for women: Christelle DAUNAY at 32’44’ (2008)
Record for men: Saïd TBIBI at 28’38” (2007)
Women in the spotlight
As every year, women will be celebrated! Ladies, take advantage of the traditional 5-minute head start given to you at the start to try to pull ahead at the finish of your male rivals!
Support for a cause, organ donation
For the 8th consecutive year, the LIONS CLUB NICE AIRPORT and the Prom’Classic are once again partnering to support organ donation awareness. Representatives from the Lions Club Nice Airport will be present at the Nike Running Expo village from Friday, January 7.
