The Nice municipality has launched the platform JeParticipe.Nice.fr. A digital tool to enable residents to propose ideas, vote for projects, and monitor their implementation.
Since 2008, the municipality has been seeking to bring citizens closer to local decisions. The City Council adopted a new strategy for participatory democracy in December 2024. The platform JeParticipe.Nice.fr is a key element of this strategy.
Residents can submit ideas for their neighborhood, vote for projects funded by the participatory budget, and give their opinion on public consultations. They also have access to information about their elected officials and municipal news. Currently, an initial vote is open to choose the name of the future “Pavilion of the Sea.” This site will host the 3rd United Nations Conference on the Ocean in June 2025.
Each year, a portion of the participatory budget will be allocated to projects proposed on the platform. These projects should focus on themes such as greening, solidarity, culture, mobility, or ecological transition.
A broader approach
The project is part of a larger goal to involve the residents of Nice more actively. Other initiatives are being implemented, such as reactivating the six Territory Councils and organizing twenty neighborhood meetings under the title “Nice, my City, my Neighborhood.” In 2025, the participatory budget will be increased to 1.5 million euros.
With JeParticipe.Nice.fr, the municipality aims to make decisions more accessible and encourage everyone’s involvement.
