In preparation for UNOC 2025, the city of Nice is launching a registration campaign to allow residents and professionals to circulate in secured zones during the event. A community outreach plan will begin on April 23.
From June 9 to 13, 2025, Nice will host the 3rd United Nations Conference on the Ocean (UNOC 2025). This international summit will gather more than 100 Heads of State and 15,000 participants. Scientists, researchers, nonprofit and institutional actors will discuss ocean protection.
This event requires significant security measures decided by the prefecture. Starting from June 5, vehicle circulation will be restricted in several downtown neighborhoods, particularly around the Port. On June 6, these restrictions will extend to pedestrians. This perimeter will remain active until June 13.
To minimize disruptions, the municipality has deployed a community outreach plan since yesterday. Designated registration agents will visit buildings in the affected areas. Their mission: identify people living or working in these sectors.
Mayor Christian Estrosi initiated this approach to « guarantee access for residents and professionals to their homes or workplaces. »
Ongoing Registration
The agents will operate from April 23 to 30. They will be present from Monday to Friday between 4 PM and 8 PM, and on Saturday morning from 9 AM to 12 PM. Each registered person must present an ID, a proof of residence, the vehicle registration document of any concerned vehicle, and for employees, a Kbis extract or an employer’s certificate.
This concerns all residents over 12 years old and professionals needing access to the secured zone. The agents will also collect contact information, the status of individuals (resident, merchant, hosted…), vehicle registrations, and specific needs (care, home interventions, dependents…).
If someone is absent during the visit, a notice will be left with instructions to reschedule an appointment.
Until June 2, it will also be possible to register at two fixed locations:
- Port Municipal Police Station (Quai de la Douane), from Monday to Saturday from 7 AM to 8 PM;
- Election Service (4 rue Ribotti), from Monday to Thursday from 8:30 AM to 5 PM, and on Friday until 3:45 PM.
A call center will be set up starting April 23 at 04 97 13 56 00. An email address (info.unoc2025@ville-nice.fr), an online FAQ available here, and a WhatsApp number will also keep people informed about the event.
Temporary information points will be set up from June 2 at Miroir d’eau, Quai des États-Unis, and Place Île de Beauté to inform locals and visitors.
