The Nice skydiving team was awarded the gold medal at the French Championships in 8-way formation skydiving.

On April 12 and 13, 2024, the Weembi wind tunnel in Lesquin (North) hosted the international French Championships in 4-way and 8-way formation skydiving, under the auspices of the French Skydiving Federation.

The Weembi FS’Cup 2024 concluded after two days of perfectly organized competition. Titles of French champions were awarded in all represented disciplines. Ten rounds were completed in all disciplines for the 14 VR8 teams, 12 VR4 N1 teams, and 5 VR4 N2 teams participating.

8-way formation skydiving is a competition where each team is composed of eight competitors. The teams must perform a sequence of different formations as many times as possible. This is primarily done in a horizontal position known as “flat.” To accomplish these formations, competitors have a time limit of 50 seconds. The goal of the event is to perform the greatest number of formations in a short amount of time.

Top Podium Step for the Nice Team

With the participation of over 150 competitors, this weekend also saw the second stage of the French Skydiving Federation’s conference. This was an opportunity for Yves-Marie Guillaud, President of the French Skydiving Federation, to discuss future challenges for skydiving with sport representatives in France, including Yves Letourneur, President of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur League.

From the first rounds of the French Championship, the WEEMBI UTLIM8 NICE team, composed of Julien Degen, Fabrice Blouin, Arnaud Camproux, Martial Ferre, Julien Losantos, Davide Moy, Erwan Pouliquen, and Mathieu Quizy, fought for the top spot on the podium. Competing against the AFTER 8 WEEMBI team, both 8-way formation teams were neck and neck. However, the Nice team successfully maintained their lead and finished on the highest step of the podium. They were awarded the gold medal in the French Championships of 8-way formation skydiving.
