OGC Nice-Clermont: getting back to winning ways

7

This Sunday afternoon, the Gym hosts Clermont as part of the 23rd day of Ligue 1. After two consecutive defeats, the Aiglons want to get back on track.

Getting back to winning ways to stay in the race for the podium was the Gym’s goal this weekend. After two consecutive defeats, against Monaco (2-3) and Lyon (0-1), the Niçois saw their competitor return in the standings. Now in 3rd place, Francesco Farioli’s men absolutely needed to win this Sunday.

The Aiglons face Clermont, currently 18th and at the bottom of the league. While on paper, the Niçois seem to be the favorites, the task is not expected to be easy for the Gym. Since Clermont’s promotion to Ligue 1 in 2021, OGC Nice has never managed to beat the Auvergne club at home. The Lancers won (0-1) in 2022, then (1-2) in 2023, at the Allianz Riviera. The match kicks off at 3 PM on Sunday.

Return of Dante, Sanson, and Diop unavailable

For this match, Francesco Farioli relies on a nearly complete squad. Suspended last week, Dante returns to the squad. Hicham Boudaoui is also present in the team. However, Sofiane Diop (foot) and Morgan Sanson (knee) are unavailable. “Fortunately, there is no rupture, but we have to see with the player how long he will be absent,” explained the Italian coach regarding the French midfielder.

For Clermont, Pascal Gastien must do without the services of Adam Mabrouk (shin) and Stan Berkani (foot). Maximiliano Caufriez and Elbasan Rashani are suspended.

The probable line-ups:

Nice: Bulka – Bard, Dante, Todibo, Lotomba – Boudaoui, Ndayishimiye, Thuram – Boga, Guessand, Moffi.

Clermont: Diaw – Armougom, Ogier, Matsima, Pelmard – Gastien, Gonalons, Cham – Allevinah, Nicholson, Boutobba.
