OGC Nice closes its summer transfer window: Papy Mendy is back, Racine Coly is the new Eagle.

Transferred to Leicester last summer, Nampalys Mendy is back home. The midfielder is on loan from the Foxes until the end of the season.

Last summer, the backbone of Claude Puel’s setup left his native region to join Leicester, who had just been crowned champions of England. His progress was hindered by an ankle injury, and the 25-year-old player appeared only 9 times for the Foxes in the last campaign.

A key player in Nice’s midfield for 3 seasons, Mendy played 110 Ligue 1 matches, closing his first chapter in red and black with a 4th place finish that qualified them for the Europa League.

In search of a specialist for the position, the Gym set their sights on Brescia’s left-back Racine Coly, convinced by his potential and room for growth. Young (21 years old), athletic (1.85m), and powerful, the left-footer established himself in Serie B, where he played over a hundred matches in three and a half seasons.

Born in Dakar in 1995, Coly is coming off a full season where, in 36 appearances, he scored 5 goals and provided 3 assists for a team that finished in 15th place in Italy’s second division.
