Three days after the setback suffered in Toulouse (2-0), OGC Nice travels tonight to the Moustoir to face Lorient.
They were at the top ten days ago after a 3-0 victory against Lyon. On Saturday night in Toulouse, however, the Niçois did not put on quite as proud a display. Down to ten men at the final whistle, Claude Puel’s team emerged from a missed opportunity while the podium was within reach. Just like in Ajaccio or against Nantes at home, Nice managed to rekindle a struggling Toulouse team.
The result was all the more surprising given that OGC has been more comfortable on the road than at home since the start of the season. Therefore, Lorient seems like the perfect second chance to pick up three points away. This comes just in time as the match against Paris Saint-Germain looms. It will take place on Friday at 8:30 p.m. at the Allianz Riviera.
But the Merlus certainly won’t make it easy for Valère Germain and his teammates. With the surprising top scorer of Ligue 1, Benjamin Moukandjo, in their ranks, Lorient is more dangerous than ever. Nice, on the other hand, will have to make do without their main offensive asset: Hatem Ben Arfa. Never stronger than when unexpected, the Niçois have an interesting challenge ahead.
