8

This Friday, August 30, would mark the closing of the summer 2024 transfer window in France. On this occasion, we provide a recap of the Aiglons’ (OGC Nice’s) transfer activities. There has been a lot of movement both in departures and arrivals on the Côte d’Azur.

Five new arrivals, several departures, a new staff… It’s time to take stock of the summer transfer window for OGC Nice. In Europe, the transfer market has officially closed after more than two months of lengthy negotiations. For the Gym, it was once again an eventful period.

At the beginning of the summer, the Aiglons saw the arrival of a new coaching staff, headed by Franck Haise. The French strategist came from Lens, replacing Francesco Farioli, who moved to Ajax Amsterdam. Finally, a new sporting director was also appointed in the person of Florian Maurice.

Five new faces on the Nice side

With a tight budget but a willingness to strengthen the red and black squad, OGC Nice officially announced the arrival of five new players over the summer. First, Jonathan Clauss joined the Aiglons. The fullback comes directly from OM. A few days later, the club announced the signing of Tanguy Ndombele. As a free agent, the French international strengthens Nice’s midfield. Two smart moves made on a tight budget for the Gym.

In defense, OGC Nice sought to fill the departure of Jean-Clair Todibo. Indeed, the club from the Côte d’Azur made several moves by welcoming two new central defenders: Moïse Bombito and Mohamed Abdelmonem. The former arrives from MLS, becoming the first Canadian to wear Nice’s colors. The latter was recruited from Al-Ahly in Egypt. Both players have significant potential for growth.

Finally, OGC Nice focused on offensive reinforcements following the long-term injuries of Terem Moffi (cruciate ligaments) and Gaëtan Laborde (foot fracture). Regarding arrivals, Youssoufa Moukoko arrives on the Côte d’Azur. The young German striker comes from BVB Dortmund on a loan with a purchase option. The forward has the advantage of being able to play in all offensive positions in attack.

Several successful sales executed

A chapter closes on the Côte d’Azur! OGC Nice has officially announced the departures of two key members of the locker room: Khéphren Thuram and Jean-Clair Todibo. The former has joined Juventus for €20 million. As for the central defender, he heads to the Premier League and West Ham under a loan with a purchase option. The latter, set at €40 million, will be automatically activated in the summer of 2025. On paper, these two operations represent great deals for the Gym.

However, they are not the only departures. The loans of Romain Perraud and Valentin Rosier have ended. The two defenders were not retained and returned to their respective clubs. Alexis Claude-Maurice has left the Aiglons as a free agent at the end of his contract. A substitute last season, Aliou Baldé has headed to the Bundesliga and Bochum on a loan with a purchase option.

On his part, Ayoub Amraoui was loaned out to Martigues. Young midfielder Daouda Traoré joins Southampton, with a year remaining on his contract. Finally, OGC Nice parted with Robson Bambu (Braga) and Mattia Viti (Empoli). The two defenders never managed to establish themselves under the Gym’s colors.
