As every Sunday, we review the latest summer transfer news of the Gym. The Aiglons have confirmed their second signing this week.
Jonathan Clauss is (finally) joining OGC Nice! After several weeks of negotiations, the right-back becomes a new Aiglon. The French international arrives from OM. The deal is reportedly valued at around โฌ5M.
The defender becomes the Gym’s second summer signing, following the acquisition of Tanguy Ndombele. In Nice, the player will reunite with Franck Haise, whom he worked with during his time at Lens. “It’s true that the possibility of reuniting with the coach played a role in my decision,” admitted Jonathan Clauss in his first words with his new club colors.
Things are stalling for Jean-Clair Todibo
With a green light to leave, the central defender is stirring up the final weeks of the Nice transfer market in terms of departures. Juventus Turin has shown interest in Jean-Clair Todibo. According to the specialist journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Italian club has proposed a loan with a nearly obligatory purchase option for the French international.
On his side, the Gym defender has made a move to Turin his priority. J-C Todibo has even rejected West Ham’s approach. The London club had reached an agreement with their Nice counterparts. The matter will need to be resolved in the coming days.
Several departures announced
Meanwhile, OGC Nice has completed and announced the departure of several players in recent days. Mattia Viti joins Empoli (Serie A) on a loan deal with a purchase option. The Italian defender was coming off a season with Sassuolo. The young player will thus be returning to his formative club.
Finally, Justin Smith is transferred to the Spanish side Barcelona. Developed at the club, the young defensive midfielder had never made a professional appearance. The Canadian U20 international had spent the last two seasons on loan, first at Quevilly, then at Avranches last year.
