Since January 1st, the winter transfer window has officially opened in France. On the Gym side, the red and black management is not expected to be very active in this transfer market. All the latest information on the Nice transfer market can be found here.

The winter transfer window also means the return of transfer updates! Since January 1st, it has officially opened in France and will close on the evening of February 3rd at 11 PM. During this period, all teams across the Hexagon can strengthen themselves, according to their means. On the OGC Nice side, the transfer budget is expected to still be limited financially, similar to the last transfer window this past summer.

With a tight budget, the Azurian leaders supposedly have two priorities this winter, in terms of arrivals. According to L’Équipe, the Gym is in search of a new central defender. Despite having a significant number of players in this position, Franck Haise has often had to improvise to form a proper and sustainable central defense over the long term. In this area, the profile of Lilian Brassier is reportedly well-regarded internally. The former Brest defender is in a deadlock at OM, which he could already leave in January, just six months after joining the Olympians. Moreover, the competition promises to be fierce for this issue.

A delicate margin for maneuver

Finally, OGC Nice is also considering the possible arrival of a new defensive midfielder. Hicham Boudaoui and Pablo Rosario are the only two players on the roster capable of playing in this position. According to the English press, the Gym is monitoring the midfielder from FK Zeljeznicar Sarajevo, Abdulmalik Al-Jaber. The Aiglons will need to be wary of competition from Swansea, PSV, and Toulouse for this matter.

Lastly, the winter transfer window should give some young Azurian players the opportunity to move out. Several young talents in the squad might temporarily look elsewhere to gain playing time and visibility. Rares Ille and Issiaga Camara are notably involved. Some clubs in Ligue 2 are keeping an eye on the Guinean midfielder.
