In the field of early childhood, reducing the waiting list of parents seeking a place for their child is a priority. The city of Nice committed to this objective from the start of its term: more than 1,000 childcare places will be created before the end of the mandate.
Nice currently manages 23 childcare facilities (multi-level care centers, nursery schools, and playgroups) and has 150 childminders in its family daycare system, providing a total of 1,850 municipal places for approximately 6,000 children. In response to high demand, the city of Nice offers small structures in each neighborhood.
The facility “Les petits poètes,” located in the heart of the city, is a structure with 30 places. It welcomes children aged from 2 and a half months to 4 years, cared for by a team of qualified early childhood professionals, from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., on a 450 m² space with an outdoor play area of 100 m².
The total cost of this operation amounts to 797,811.55 euros, including tax, for the city of Nice. This covers the construction work, setup, and equipment including furnishings and IT.
As part of the second Childhood and Youth Contract 2010/2013, the Family Allowance Fund (CAF) of Alpes-Maritimes granted the city of Nice an investment subsidy of 276,000 euros.
