Paris-Nice 2020: Will the climb to the Col de la Colmiane be the deciding factor?

Latest News

The route for the 2020 edition of the race to the sun, revealed this Wednesday, will notably include a finish at the summit of the Col de la Colmiane.

This year again, Paris-Nice is expected to be decided on a challenging course open to all winds, with very small gaps at the finish on the French Riviera. But the 2020 edition has some new features.

The first major stage race of the season will then continue in the Loiret, heading towards Chalette-sur-Loing, and across the plains of the Cher towards La Châtre, where mastering gusts and hence breakaways will be essential for achieving overall victory.

The only time trial of the race to the sun, located mid-race, will be short and technical around the town of Saint-Amand-Montrond.

Challenges will then multiply, with a finish at Côte-Saint-André, followed by the Vaucluse, with a final 50-kilometer circuit that is expected to have significant implications for the overall standings.

The arbiter of this 2020 edition should be the Col de la Colmiane (16.3 km at 6.3%), which will be the first listed ascent of the next Tour de France.

The last stage will, as always, be drawn around Nice, but this time, no finish on the Promenade des Anglais: the riders will conclude their week at the foot of the Allianz Riviera, after a winding descent.
