The race to the sun is back for its 82nd edition. Starting from Les Mureaux in the Yvelines, the riders completed a 157 km loop. It was a challenging course from which Olav Kooij emerged victorious.
Eight stages are scheduled for this 2024 edition of Paris-Nice. The first stage, with its rolling terrain, allowed the strong riders to test themselves over the last 20 kilometers of the stage before leaving the remaining sprinters in the peloton to contest the finish. Among the active participants of this stage were breakaways by Jonas Rutsch (the day’s best climber), Stefan Bissegger, and Mathieu Burgaudeau, followed by Anthony Turgis, the local of the stage, who launched a counterattack in the final kilometers of the stage.
In the end, it was the young Dutch sprinter from Visma Lease a Bike, Olav Kooij, who triumphed at the finish line, ahead of Mads Pedersen.
Tomorrow, the riders will set off from Thoiry for a 179 km stage without any significant difficulties. This will be another opportunity for the sprinters to shine before a short break.
