Police officer assaulted: the scandal of lawless areas in Nice

Latest News

The attack on the police officer on Wednesday in the Moulins district is an atrocity. Firstly, towards this officer who was performing his duty with courage and selflessness, but also for Nice and the Republic.

It is known in our city that there are districts under the control of traffickers, where residents are forced to show allegiance, where police and firefighters are not tolerated, in short, areas where lawlessness prevails.

These issues are never discussed in order not to tarnish the city’s image and the security postures of its leaders, and it takes a tragedy like the one on Wednesday for the extent of the damage to be realized.

This is the local illustration of what the courageous Clavreul report has highlighted. The supposed solutions to this absolute scandal (cameras, applications…) are remarkably weak. What is needed above all is strong political will to physically reclaim these territories without relying solely on pointless operations! And let’s not retort that it’s difficult! To my knowledge, the Moulins district is not Afghanistan, nor is Liserons, Iraq.

For that, the police need to be given resources but, more importantly, clear objectives. As for the public opinion, often indifferent, it would be wise to support its police and put pressure on its elected officials, especially those who fancy the postures of braggarts!
