Pony electric bikes soon to be reintegrated in Nice

A few weeks after the launch of the Pony electric bikes, the company is forced to withdraw them due to battery concerns.

Since Tuesday, February 20, the French company Pony has deployed over 1,000 electric bikes. The project, in close collaboration with the city, aims to make Nice and its surroundings greener.

Since March 7, the bikes from Pony have disappeared from circulation due to suspected battery issues. The 1,000 electric bikes, as well as the mechanical ones in free-service, have been withdrawn in Nice and the surrounding municipalities of the Metropolis.

The Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis does not understand this decision to withdraw, especially for the mechanical two-wheelers. To address this issue, it has asked the company to offer users the free-service of mechanical bikes.

The Pony company will put 200 mechanical bikes into service starting March 20, along with 40 electric bikes. It also commits to the gradual reactivation of electric bikes every week. While waiting for the resolution of the manufacturing defect, the American giant Lime remains in the market with the 1,000 electric bikes deployed in Nice.
