Forty days before the start of the Dakar, considered among the favorites, the Nice native David Casteu, world champion in the 450cc motorcycle rally raids, presented the Team Casteu – Dakar 2011 to the press.
On this occasion, the city’s mayor unveiled the SHERCO 450cc, which will participate in the Dakar 2011 under the colors of the city of Nice.
This presentation was an opportunity to get a closer look at Team Casteu – Dakar 2011: its mechanics, its rapid assistance vehicles, and the SHERCO 450cc, the 2010 world champion French motorcycle!
The Nice native Frédéric Lequien, vice-president of ASO, the organizing company of the Dakar, provided a sneak preview of information on the 2011 edition route, which will take place in Argentina and Chile from January 1 to 16, 2011.
David Casteu in a few lines:
Born in Nice in 1974, David Casteu has twice been the vice-world champion in All-Terrain Rallies.
– In 2007: 2nd in the Dakar, 3rd in the All-Terrain Rally World Championship (official KTM).
– In 2008, he won the 1st Dakar Series Central Europe (official KTM), 3rd at the BAJA ESPAÑA ARAGON, 3rd in the Sertoes Rally, 7th in the Sardinia Rally. The year 2008 also marked his first victory in the World Championship (Pharaohs Rally).
