Prime Minister’s Visit to Nice: The Government Listens to its Mayor (Macron-compatible Mayor)

Latest News

Being members of the Republicans (in opposition) but “at the same time” supporting the Government for what seems positive is a position that requires a lot of contortions but is rewarding, at least in the short term, for Christian Estrosi, who has never been so pampered and whose reasons have been taken into account.

Even during Sarkozy’s presidency, not to mention Hollande’s!, the influx of Ministers was not so recurrent. And all, in addition to the complimentary words, bring some favorable measures in their pockets.

How long will it last? The mayor of Nice will rightly take advantage of this opportunity, which shows his supporters that his choice is not without “return” for his city.

This Friday it is Edouard Philippe, the Prime Minister (also a former LR elected representative and mayor of Le Havre and thus a former colleague of Christian Estrosi) who will come to Nice accompanied by Gérard Collomb, the Minister of the Interior.

They will discuss security in the Moulins district, which, along with the Ariane district, is among the 30 priority neighborhoods that will benefit from dedicated police reinforcements. Recently, a police officer was attacked there during a control.

In the company of the Minister of Interior Gérard Collomb, the Prime Minister will meet with the police officers involved in the implementation of the daily security police (PSQ), as the Moulins district, like the Ariane district, is among the 30 priority neighborhoods that will benefit from dedicated police reinforcements.

Edouard Philippe will attend the presentation of the urban and social renovation program. More than 200 million euros have been invested by the State and local authorities to renovate the Moulins district.

Then, he will meet, at the town hall, the economic and social forces as well as local elected officials. He plans to praise “the dynamism and resilience of the people of Nice” in his speech.

In the early afternoon, accompanied by Frédérique Vidal, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, who is from Nice and former President of the University of Nice, he will visit the Mediterranean Institute of Risk, Environment and Sustainable Development (IMREDD), a reference center for education and research on the theme of “smart territory” or “smart city.”

The Prime Minister’s visit will end with a tour of Nice Méridia, the new district located in the “eco valley,” just above the Moulins district, one of the jewels in Christian Estrosi’s crown.
