For the reception of the leader, Grenoble, Stade Niçois succumbed to the visitors’ pressure and lost (18-49). The decision was made in the second half.

In search of a pivotal match to bounce back, Stade Niçois was hosting the leader of Pro D2, Grenoble. The Niçois were on a streak of seven consecutive defeats, and tonight’s game didn’t change the trend. Caught off guard at the beginning of the match, the Niçois quickly conceded two tries and were already trailing (10-0) after fifteen minutes. But, as often seen this season, the Niçois responded. Within seven minutes, the hosts scored two tries, one of which was converted, and added a penalty. The back-and-forth continued, and it was ultimately Grenoble that took the lead at halftime with two more tries. The halftime score was (15-20).

Grenoble accelerated

Unfortunately for the Niçois, the second half began much like the end of the first. The Grenoblois dominated possession and continued to increase their lead on the scoreboard. Only a solitary penalty brightened the score for the Niçois. In total, the hosts conceded 49 points and suffered their eighth consecutive defeat. Alexandre Compan continues to believe in his team and their skills. They will need to fulfill their coach’s hopes in 2025. The next Pro D2 match is on January 10 at 7:30 p.m. on the pitch of Béziers.
