A free cycling parade will be organized on March 30, 2025, to raise awareness about colorectal cancer screening. Cycling, beneficial for health, combines physical activity and prevention in a friendly atmosphere.
On Sunday, March 30, 2025, the residents of Nice are invited to hop on their bikes for a friendly and committed outing. Organized by the city of Nice and its partners, this cycling parade aims to raise awareness about the importance of colorectal cancer screening.
The start will be given at 9:30 AM from Place Toja for an 8 km loop. This free initiative is open to everyone, regardless of age or level. Bicycles will be provided thanks to the support of Lime and Pony, subject to availability. One rule: wear blue, the emblematic color of Blue March.
Physical activity plays a key role in preventing colorectal cancer. It can reduce the risk of developing the disease and recurrence by 25% to 50%. Cycling, accessible and low impact on the joints, is an excellent way to combat sedentariness while adopting more ecological mobility.
Blue March: a month for raising awareness
Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer and the second deadliest in France. Each year, nearly 47,600 new cases are diagnosed and 17,000 people die from it. However, when detected early, it is curable in 90% of cases.
A national screening program is in place for people aged 50 to 74. Every two years, they receive an invitation to take an occult blood test in the stool. This simple and quick test can detect 75% of asymptomatic cancers at an early stage. It is available for free from doctors, pharmacists, and on the site jefaismondepistage.fr.
This event is an opportunity to remind people of the importance of an active lifestyle and regular medical check-ups.
