SNCF Strike: Complicated Weekend on the Rails

7

Due to a controllers’ strike, train traffic is disrupted in Nice during this first carnival weekend.

The weekend looks complicated for travelers wanting to take the train. Indeed, due to a controllers’ strike, an average of one in two trains is running for TGVs and Ouigo trains. This strike occurs during the weekend of the inauguration of the Nice Carnival, an event highly popular with tourists.

In the Nice station, the boards announce the bad news to travelers. Many trains have been canceled this Saturday, especially those heading to Paris Gare de Lyon and Bordeaux Saint-Jean. Unfortunately, the situation will remain the same tomorrow. It will be necessary to wait until Monday morning for traffic to return to normal.

The strike could be extended next week. A strike notice has already been filed for the weekend of February 23 and 24, 2024.
