In recent days, the upcoming League Cup final between OGC Nice and AS Nancy Lorraine continues to stir reactions among the red and black club’s supporters as well as some local officials.
Indeed, a letter from a collective of supporters has called on the Nice management and local elected officials to lower the current pricing of 150 euros to a more affordable cost to allow a significantly larger number of supporters to travel to the game.
Patrick Allemand, Vice President of the Regional Council, has in turn called on Louis Gallois, President of the SNCF, to provide additional trains for Nice supporters who, to date, must make do with four trains while their Lorraine counterparts will have eleven at their disposal.
Might one say, “If you don’t climb, you’re not from Nice?”
It seems, once again, that the French Riviera, and particularly the city of Nice, are not among the national priorities. After the hesitations of a DNCG not always at its best, it seems that today it is the SNCF that needs to be coaxed to, ultimately, fill its coffers on this occasion.
However, one must remain cautious and patient with this new issue because, without a doubt, the grand Stade de France will be decked out in red and black colors and will echo with “Issa Nissa” and the traditional “Who doesn’t jump is not from Nice.”
As we look forward to this beautiful final which will undoubtedly remind us of the 1978 French Cup final that pitted the same two teams against each other with a favorable result for the Lorrains who won with a single goal from… Michel Platini.
Fortunately for the Nice supporters, this time the famous number 10 will be in the stands at the Stade de France.
