Socialist Party 06: Xavier Garcia announces his candidacy

Latest News

The Socialist Party has hit the accelerator! Announcements are coming one after the other, and after Patrick Allemand’s resignation, it is the natural candidacy of Xavier Garcia that emerges. Who’s next?

xavier_garcia-4.jpg In three days, we have recorded the resignation of Patrick Allemand from the position of secretary of the Federation 06, the reaction of representatives from different sensitivities of the party’s left demanding a collegial leadership until the national congress, and the announcement of Xavier Garcia’s candidacy, which effectively kicks off the short electoral campaign for the internal election on December 3rd.

Now, we only have to wait for the announcement of his opponent or opponents, the expression of these left factions divided in proposals but united in criticism of the current party majority.

All leading up to the June congress, which will be the real battle of ideas and positions of power!

Now, let’s hear from Xavier Garcia:

“Having a dislike for hypocrisy in politics, I will not prolong a false suspense any longer. The candidacies for the position of first secretary of the Socialist Party Federation of Alpes-Maritimes are open, and I will be one of the candidates.
I am standing as a candidate primarily because there will be an election among the members. I preferred this over a designation by the Federal Council because, in the face of the challenges that lie ahead in the coming months, the next federal first secretary will need the legitimacy of the members’ vote.

If I am a candidate, it is also because it is in difficulties that a commitment gains its full meaning. Our political struggle against a dominant UMP and a more powerful than ever FN is more complicated here than elsewhere, but that is what makes it essential.

I call on those protesting under the banners of the Left Front and the NPA against the government and who are demanding more internal democracy, to present their ‘natural candidate’ to the members’ vote to give them the opportunity to judge the actions and legitimacy of each one.”
