The presence of homeless individuals requires the establishment of enhanced vigilance and reinforced action, in addition to the regular system, organized within a specific winter reception, shelter, and integration system.
Ø Thus, since November 1st, a winter plan has been implemented by the city of Nice and coordinated by the staff of the Municipal Center for Social Action to ensure protection for all individuals facing the harshness of the weather conditions.
The city of Nice has put in place exceptional accommodation and shelter arrangements:
· Enhancement of reception and accommodation capacities with 30 additional places available to mobile teams for the homeless at the Emergency Social Reception Center (15 beds from November 1st + 15 beds in level 1 of the winter plan),
· Extended hours with an opening in the evening from 5:00 PM and closing in the morning at 9:00 AM, as well as complete day and night reception during weekends and public holidays,
· Opening of the Saint Barthelemy room with 35 places in case of simultaneous saturation of the city’s accommodation facilities,
· An improvement in the meals served to the homeless in the CCAS facilities and during outreach operations.
· Since January 16th, the homeless can benefit from a brand new day center of 1,400 m2, a true one-stop shop offering comprehensive and tailored care aimed at solid social reintegration and coordinating all social services.
