As part of the 18th Operetta and Musical Comedy Festival in Nice, the City of Nice and the Nice Côte d’Azur Opera present “La vie parisienne” at the Opera.
Created in Paris in 1866, this opéra bouffe in four acts is one of the most famous works of Jacques Offenbach, whose bicentenary of birth is being celebrated this year.
We indulge without moderation in this very fine satire of the behaviors and characters of the affluent “party-goers” of the capital during the Second Empire.
The work enjoyed success from the outset, a success that has endured over time and joyfully crossed borders. Indeed, all of Europe has sung and danced to this lively, colorful, and even frenzied music, which will be performed here by the Nice Philharmonic Orchestra, reinforced by the Choir of the Nice Opera, under the baton, for the occasion, of Bruno Membrey.
