Rebirth of a centuries-old tradition, the Russian Musical Seasons of Nice offer multiple opportunities to escape through music with each passing season. Four to six exceptional concerts are held throughout the year featuring artists ranging from the most promising to the most acclaimed. On February 10th, there will be a lecture at 7 PM and a concert at 8 PM, at the Anglican Church of Nice located at 11 rue de la Buffa.
Revived thanks to the efforts of two associations from Nice – the Maison de la Russie à Nice and the Perspective Internationale Association – in honor of the centenary of Serge Diaghilev’s Russian Seasons, the Russian Musical Seasons aim to diversify and enrich the cultural landscape of Nice. Their goal is to reach the general public and contribute to the preservation of shared cultural, historical, and human heritage.
Musicians, works, and composers are carefully brought together in programs that blend the pleasure of listening to and recognizing great classics with the joy of discovering rare gems of an unjustly forgotten repertoire.
This year, the Russian Musical Seasons, with the Maison de la Russie and Perspective Internationale, have taken on a new challenge. At the end of the 2011 season, Perspective Internationale proudly became the first contributor-donor to the Foundation for the Preservation and Restoration of the historic Cavaillé-Coll organ in the Grand Hall of the Tchaikovsky National Conservatory of Moscow.
Nadia Metlov, the event’s technical director, stated: “In this year dedicated to the Russian language and literature in France, we will discover and follow the most Slavic traces of our culture. Cosmopolitan even before the advent of globalization, more universalist than globalist, musicians – composers or performers – have shaped minds and opened borders.”
