At the conclusion of the research program on festive practices in Provence, which won the 2017 project call from the Ministry of Culture for enriching the National Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage in France, the inventory sheet entitled “The Craftsmanship Associated with the Nice Carnival” was included in the National Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage in France due to the methodological quality of this applied research.
The Carnival is an essential event in local life and is the number one Carnival in France and one of the most famous in the world.
Christian Estrosi, Mayor of Nice, is delighted with this news, which supports the project of creating a Cultural Center for Carnival Heritage in Nice: “I congratulate the carnival artisans. They express the knowledge and skills of our craftsmen, as well as a tradition and identity that continue from generation to generation.”
