On Saturday, October 19, 2024, ASPTT Nice Côte d’Azur, in collaboration with Mordus Spearfishing and the Port of Nice, is organizing a major port cleaning operation. The objective is to raise awareness about environmental protection.

From 9:30 a.m., volunteers, as well as athletes from the Sailing, Swimming, and Freediving Fishing sections, will gather. The goal is to collect waste around and in the Port of Nice. This event is part of a broader effort to raise awareness about environmental issues, in anticipation of the 3rd United Nations Conference on the Oceans (UNOC) which will be held in Nice next June. It aims to demonstrate the impact of local citizen actions for the preservation of our coastline.

The day’s program will start with a coffee reception and a safety briefing at 9 a.m. The cleanup will then take place from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., with waste collection both at sea and on land. At the end of the morning, the collected waste will be categorized and weighed. Afterwards, a friendly gathering with refreshments will be organized to thank the participants.

This eco-responsible operation is an ideal opportunity to raise public awareness about preserving marine heritage. It also highlights the importance of small daily actions that can have a significant impact on the environment.

The organizers invite citizens to join this collective action.
