The sixteenth edition of the festival C’est pas classique, which will take place between December 10 and 12, has just unveiled its program. Hint: there’s something for everyone!
For three days, December 10, 11, and 12, more than thirty free concerts and activities will take place at the Acropolis Palace, with one single aim, to show that classical music is accessible to all.
“From notes to bars, the festival has managed to become an unmissable musical event, for both the most knowledgeable connoisseurs and the curious. During this 16th edition, many artists will perform over 3 days in prestigious free concerts that will make classical music, often considered elitist, accessible to all,” announced Auguste Verola, Vice-president of the Department delegated for children and culture.
The festival has just unveiled the program for this sixteenth edition which will be imbued with the magic of Christmas.
The highlights of the festival
The festival will open on Friday, December 10 at 8:30 PM with a concert by sisters Camille and Julie Berthollet “Nos 4 saisons.” They will be accompanied by the Cannes orchestra.
Thirty years after the death of the “man with the cabbage head,” the festival c’est pas classique pays tribute to the artist’s career by offering the show “Tribute to Serge Gainsbourg” with the Cannes orchestra. This tribute concert will take place on Saturday, December 11 at 9 PM.
On Sunday, December 12 at 2:30 PM and 7:30 PM, the Nice Philharmonic Orchestra will play Disney tunes in its concert “Magical Music from the Movies.” Blending classical music with Disney magic, this show will delight both young and old.
Please note that access to these three highlights requires online reservation, with the ticket office opening on Monday, November 29.
Other concerts and activities
In addition to these three highlights, the festival offers a multitude of other concerts and activities.
In a category titled “really not classical,” the Rassegna company will present a concert “Il sole non si muove” on Saturday at 5:30 PM. On Sunday at 4:45 PM, Joachim Horsley will perform “Via Havana.”
In the category of revisited classics, the musicians of Harpsody Orchestra Classic will offer their concert “From Opera to Cinema” on Saturday at 8:45 PM.
Finally, to appeal to a younger audience, generally not used to listening to classical music, a dedicated space will be available where shows, workshops, and activities will be offered on Saturday and Sunday of the festival.
