On May 27 and 28, the two finals of this amateur football competition will be held at the Allianz Riviera. Following the press conference on the launch of this tournament, Nice was chosen for the second consecutive year.

This championship has been held annually since 2010, for young football players from all corners of France. Three categories are in the spotlight: U9, U11, and U13 girls.

Launched 15 years ago by former Olympique de Marseille player Jean-Christophe Marquet, this tournament aims to bring together the future hopes of French football in a friendly and sporty atmosphere. 650 clubs and 7,000 footballers are engaged in this race organized into 8 stages across France. The first stage of the 15th edition of the Champion’s Cup REKUPO will take place in Saint-Maximin (83) on February 12 and 13. The winners will be rewarded at the grand final at the Allianz Riviera on May 27 and 28.

A way to raise awareness about recycling

This tournament also has an educational purpose as it raises young people’s awareness of sorting and recycling with the REKUPO village, a partner of the event. A 150 m² space offers an immersive and fun experience of the waste journey. The initiative is deployed by EcoDDS, the organization that operationally handles the collection, sorting, recovery, and recycling of chemical waste.

Words from Jean-Christophe Marquet

Since its creation 15 years ago, the tournament has continued to develop and allows young players, boys and girls from different regions, to meet and compete around their shared passion: football,” says the competition’s director. “We are also very pleased to be accompanied by EcoDDS, who raises our young people’s awareness about environmental issues, such as waste sorting. Bringing thousands of young people together in a unique competition around sports values, educating them on environmental respect, and inclusion with activities such as blind football, which captivated the French during the Olympics, all align with the values we are happy to impart.

He adds: “The grand final at the Allianz Riviera in Nice at the end of May will be an exceptional moment for our selected young players, offering them the unique opportunity to play in a legendary stadium where they will face young players from professional clubs such as OGC Nice, OM, PSG, Montpellier, Stade Rennais, Toulouse, and the legendary Italian club Juventus Turin.
