The Climate Generation wants to respond to climate and social emergencies in the regions.

Progressive and environmental leaders, including the Maralpine Laurent Lanquat-Castel, EE-LV 06 referent, have issued a call to establish a Climate Generation to build a “powerful political voice” beyond national parties.

The initiative assumes its obviousness a few months before the 2020 municipal elections.

Laurent Lanquar-Castiel explains: “Our mission is not to locally disguise classic organizational agreements. Our ambition is much stronger: to bring together all those, and they are numerous, who are convinced of the importance of carrying municipal projects that meet ecological, social, and economic emergencies, anchoring them in the reality of the territories.”

The project is both clear and ambitious: “The set of demands and values detailed in the appeal is clear, responding to them and committing to them will naturally lead to taking strong positions on biodiversity protection, the fight to reduce CO2 emissions, combating territorial and social disparities, balanced distribution of economic activities, and the responsible welcoming of migrants. They will need to be reflected in municipal projects,” added the environmental leader.

Laurent Lanquar-Castiel continues: “We must mobilize new citizens, support all the youth of the Climate Generation who want to get involved in local executives; it is one of the ambitions of this call. It also aligns with citizen initiatives, with proposals supported by collectives of associations and unions that must find concrete applications of their priorities in municipal projects. Our initiative aims to spur real change by relying on the willingness to act on the territories.”
