Fonetiq, Image Publique, Imago, Label Note, Olodum Musique, Panda 06 Production, and S4CO. These seven entities have pooled their resources to serve culture in the Alpes-Maritimes. “The goal is to combine everyone’s experiences and skills to achieve great results,” says Olivier Gueniffey, president of the organization. After a year and a half of joint work, the Cooperative has come to life.

“We want to prove that the local scene can attract a national audience,” confides Olivier Gueniffey. Last January, the Cooperative won the bid for the artistic management of room 700 at the Palais Nikaïa. The first project is underway.

Room 700, the first step in a long line of projects

“Managing room 700 at the Nikaïa is just a step. The first step before many other projects,” indicates Michel Sajn of Image Publique and the editor-in-chief of the cultural information magazine La Strada.

The Cooperative is nurturing other projects like organizing its own events and ultimately “proving that associations will be capable of managing their own independent performance venues,” confides Michel Sajn. He concludes with a frank statement, “We all know it’s a town of reactionaries and retirees. We want to prove there’s a real audience, enthusiasts of contemporary music in Nice.”

“Two dates already booked for room 700”

After securing its artistic management in January, the Cooperative is starting to organize its schedule. “Two dates are already booked thanks to the production company Panda 06 for the UK Festival,” shares a member of Panda. He adds that “options have been placed on the hall for the months of April and May.” “We will likely have eight dates before the summer and an autumn schedule of twelve dates,” he adds.

The engine is running.
